The 4K journey has begun here at Harlette.

Along the 4K journey, the questions start, how will a 24K Gold fabric work and what camera will bring out the best in the 24K gold?

Harlette worked with Sony to test what a fabric with 24K Gold and Platinum would look like using a 4K top-end motion picture camera

The results were more than interesting and with the right lighting and movement.

“The fabric danced and the 24K Gold on 4K mesmerising!”

This is just one of the most surprising experiences, to see a fabric come to life,  even before its made into a garment.

This is a behind the scenes view of a fabric test with 24K gold conducted at Pinewood Studios thanks to Sony. The camera used for the fabric test is the F65.

Fashion & Film where would it be without Music

Posted in Dior, Fashion, Film, Paris with tags , , , , , , , , , , on July 6, 2012 by harlette

Following on from our last post on the impact that words have on fashion & film, we could not of course forget the immense impression that music has to guide us to a perfect fashion moment.

My favourite all time fashion moment is created by none other than Guy Ritchie as director for Dior, staring Jude Law, Michaela Kocianova, with creative director Robert Lussier and of course Paris an intoxicating mix of sensory overload to say the least. What fuses this whole moment into combustible fashion lust is of course the music titled Exogenesis by Muse.

Here is the fashion, film & music video triage that I hope you enjoy as much as we do here at Harlette.

This is the 2012 sequel for Dior Homme Sport with Jude Law & Exogenesis by Muse

The making of Exogenesis by Muse

“If there is a nice place, and the place does not come to you – you have to come to the place.”

“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us or we find it not.”

Fashion & Film where would it be without Wordsmiths

This week a friend sent me the one of Prada’s perfume films, with Daria Werbowy directed by Ridley Scott  which was quickly followed up with a little bit of debate behind the source of the text used for the film with the same title

The Thunder, Perfect Mind

Translated by George W. MacRae

I was sent forth from the power,
and I have come to those who reflect upon me,
and I have been found among those who seek after me.
Look upon me, you who reflect upon me,
and you hearers, hear me.
You who are waiting for me, take me to yourselves.
And do not banish me from your sight.
And do not make your voice hate me, nor your hearing.
Do not be ignorant of me anywhere or any time. Be on your guard!
Do not be ignorant of me.
For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one.
I am the wife and the virgin.
I am <the mother> and the daughter.
I am the members of my mother.
I am the barren one
and many are her sons.
I am she whose wedding is great,
and I have not taken a husband.
I am the midwife and she who does not bear.
I am the solace of my labor pains.
I am the bride and the bridegroom,
and it is my husband who begot me.
I am the mother of my father
and the sister of my husband
and he is my offspring.
I am the slave of him who prepared me.
I am the ruler of my offspring.
But he is the one who begot me before the time on a birthday.
And he is my offspring in (due) time,
and my power is from him.
I am the staff of his power in his youth,
and he is the rod of my old age.
And whatever he wills happens to me.
I am the silence that is incomprehensible
and the idea whose remembrance is frequent.
I am the voice whose sound is manifold
and the word whose appearance is multiple.
I am the utterance of my name.

It got us to think about Fashion & Film and where would it be without prose, without words…. So today Harlette sends out good wishes to everyone with the gift to write and the boldness and bravery to share it with the world.  We say thank you wordsmiths of the world keep writing.
